9 Things We May Never See In WWE Again

8. Punjabi Prison Matches

There are a number of lesser-spotted match stipulations that look to have been consigned to the history books such as Boiler Room Brawls, Buried Alive and Casket matches.

Right now it may seem unlikely, but those kind of matches may yet make a return if the circumstances are right at some point down the line. A Punjabi Prison match, on the other hand, looks to have been permanently laid to rest in light of The Great Khali’s departure.

Essentially a souped-up cage bout, the Punjabi Prison does maintain pockets of supporters amongst the WWE audience but, for me, it was a much too convoluted concept. In short, the ring was surrounded by two bamboo cages. The first cage had four doors through which the wrestlers could escape, but if they were unable to do so in 60 seconds then the doors would be padlocked and they’d have to instead climb over the top.

Add in the fact that the maze of bamboo made it difficult to make out any of the action, and it's apparent that this really wasn’t the greatest idea.

The reason we’ll likely never see it again is because this was a speciality of The Great Khali (or at least, it was supposed to be, despite the fact he didn't actually appear in the concept's debut outing), and I think it’s safe to say that we’re probably not going to be seeing Khali back in a WWE ring anytime soon.
