Backstage News On Roman Reigns Winning WWE World Title

How did Reigns' title victory go down in the WWE locker room?

Roman Reigns winning the WWE World Heavyweight title on last week's Raw was said to have gone down well in the WWE locker room. The latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that there was little jealously or resentment among the boys over Reigns getting the belt like there usually is when WWE officials handpick someone to be the next top guy and the general consensus among his peers was that they were happy for him. Reigns is said to be well liked in the dressing room and gets along with a lot the crew by always being polite and personable and working hard for his spot. Taking a step back, the change in fortunes for Reigns in late 2015 after what he endured in late 2014/early 2015 is astonishing. The same city of Philadelphia, where notoriously Vince McMahon is puzzled and frustrated that his guys who he is booking to get over are rejected and chewed out by rabid fans (see Reigns' Rumble victory in January), were simply putty in his hands when Reigns took the title away from Sheamus on last week's Raw and thusly created a new top star who was genuinely over with the fans. The key now for WWE and Vince McMahon is making sure he stays over as Champion going into the Royal Rumble and to tell a compelling story in setting up his opponent and program for April's huge WrestleMania 32 extravaganza in Dallas, Texas.
