CM Punk: 10 Reasons WWE Fans Have Turned On Him

CM Punk was the golden boy of the internet wrestling community, but now even his staunchest of supporters are critical of the absent WWE superstar. Whereas a quick scan of social media or forums in February told a story of fans crying out for Punk, six months later it is far more a tale of good riddance. Here at WhatCulture.com we had so many comments supporting him, which over time overwhelmingly turned into comments deriding him. Even chants for the star in his hometown of Chicago at Payback were isolated incidents. It was a much lower volume than the thunderous and continuous support we heard at the last Chicago show on the March 3rd Raw. Peoples minds have been changed and Punk's contract ends this month without anyone really caring. WWE are no longer perceived as the bad guys in all of this, fans have turned on Punk. The reasons for the changed perception are complicated. It's a mixture of WWE's and Punk's own response to the January walkout. The actual details of Punk's exit are still rather unknown, fans seem to have simply made their own mind up about what went down. What we do know for sure is that some sort of discussion took place behind closed doors on the January 27th Raw. In the room was Vince McMahon, Triple H and Punk. Given that those three men are some of most private people in the industry we may never fully know what words got said. What we do know is Punk left the company that night and fans have since decided he was in the wrong to do this. Here's the ten reasons why he has gone from hero to zero amongst the internet wrestling community.
