Rebooking WWE Unforgiven 1999 - 9 Ways To Make It Better

Less Kennel from Hell, more Rock versus Jericho, please.

Unforgiven 1999 was, in some respects, a historic night for the then-World Wrestling Federation. For one thing, it was the last U.S. PPV booked by Vince Russo, who would flee to WCW just a couple of weeks later. Alhough WWE were on a hot streak around this time with Fully Loaded, SummerSlam and, yes, Unforgiven delivering, most would agree that Russo's departure was a blessing for the company in the long-term. Did Russo have his moments as a booker? Absolutely, but he wasn't the saviour of the WWE or anything, as he'd like you to believe. Indeed, the in-ring and storyline presentation of WWE dramatically improved in 2000, after Russo left the company. Coincidence? I think not. But, as mentioned before, his last few months in the company did yield impressive results, at least on PPV. Unforgiven was not a bad PPV. Far from it. But it wasn't perfect, and there are still some things that, in hindsight, could have been done a lot differently. For instance, what was the deal with the vacating of the WWE Championship? Why did the Kennel from Hell have to happen? And why the hell did Chris Jericho get thrown into the midcard following his white-hot debut? Please join me as I soldier on with the rebooking series, this time focusing on Unforgiven and presenting 9 ways to make it better.
