The Rock's 10 Best Matches Ever
8. Vs. The Undertaker, Kurt Angle (Vengeance 2002)
The Rock got a lot done in the summer of 2002, despite the fact that this particular run was a two-month stay in between Hollywood jaunts. A month after returning, Rock captured the WWE Undisputed title, only to drop it to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam five weeks later.
The match in which Rock won it is somewhat forgotten in the dustbin of secondary pay-per-view history, but at the same time those who do remember it will hail it as an all-time classic. No wonder, the 20 minute triple threat match had the crowd invested at an incredible level, particularly as the mayhem built toward its climax.
The string of submissions and saves down the stretch remains one of the more dramatic sequences in any match. Factor in the heart-stopping near-falls off of finishers toward the end, and you've got the template for every great triple threat match that would follow. The bout is a master class in sustaining the audience.
