WrestleMania 33 Not Coming To Minnesota?
Minneapolis off the cards for 2017's grand-daddy of them all.
WWE won't be bringing WrestleMania 33 to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2017, reports PWInsider.com. Speculation had been rife for months that Mania 33 was heading to 'the city of Lakes' but the latest reports are WWE won't be heading to the state of Minnesota for 2017's grand-daddy of them all. As we previously noted, the speculation in the summer was that WWE were eyeing the new $1 billion NFL Vikings stadium in Minneapolis for the wrestling extravaganza and as recently as two months ago, WWE officials were expecting WrestleMania 33 to take place there. Lester Bagley, who is the VP of Public Affairs and Stadium Development for the stadium claimed that WrestleMania 33 was coming to the venue in August, though WWE were quick to refute that report but did confirm that Minneapolis was one of several cities that had expressed interest in hosting the event. Named the U.S. Bank Stadium, the venue will be the host of the Super Bowl in 2008 and the 2019 NCAA Final Four and when its complete for next season's NFL season, will hold a capacity of 65,400, which would be expandable to 73,000 for Super Bowls. Here's an image of how construction for the stadium is coming along;
