With WrestleMania right around the corner, it's official - we're getting deep into 2017. Before long, the show of shows will be in the rear-view mirror, and WWE will be steamrolling into spring with some post-'Mania momentum.

Will the period directly after WrestleMania delight or disappoint? It's really impossible to know just yet, but one thing is for sure - video game aficionados and fans of WWE's "2K" series will start getting their hopes up as the weather gets warmer. New information about the next iteration of the series - WWE 2K18 - will start to be revealed, including who will get the coveted spot on the game box's cover.

Even for fans who don't play the games, the information will undoubtedly be significant. Last year on May 31, Goldberg was unveiled as a special pre-order playable character. On June 27, it was announced that Brock Lesnar would be on the cover of the box. The associations that both men had with the game ultimately led to Goldberg returning to the company, beating Lesnar, and winning the Universal Title from Kevin Owens. Now, the two men are slated to meet one last time in the main event of WrestleMania.

So who can get the all-important video game rub this year?

10. Bret Hart

To be fair, just because a star is featured on the cover of 2K18, it doesn't mean he has to wrestle. In 2015, Steve Austin was revealed as the cover star of WWE 2K16, and as much as the company would have liked him to take on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32, it didn't happen. His only return came courtesy of the video game.

2K Sports could pull a similar move with Bret Hart. Though Hart hasn't been involved with the company much since his comeback run in 2010, putting him on the cover of the game could easily serve as a draw to nostalgic fans who enjoyed the product back during the '90s - just like Steve Austin did.

WWE has downplayed Hart's place in company history over the years, but many fans still consider him the greatest wrestler of all time. As 2K Sports ultimately decides who makes it onto the box, they could seek to capitalize on Hart's legacy.
