WWE Hell In A Cell 2021 Universal Title Match Revealed

Here's who Roman Reigns will defend his WWE Universal Title against at Hell In A Cell 2021.

Roman Reigns will defend the WWE Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio at Hell In A Cell 2021, reports the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer.

This is WWE's pay-per-view direction coming out of last week's episode of SmackDown, which saw the Universal Champion attack Rey and son Dominik in their second match against The Usos that night, preventing Jimmy and Jey from taking another defeat.

WWE is yet to formally announce the match, though there are still two episodes of SmackDown to go between now and Hell In A Cell on 20 June. The promotion has four hours of television left to put something together.

This will be the first time Rey has fought for a World Title since facing WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2019. His opponent has held the Universal strap since August 2020, fending off challenges from Daniel Bryan, Edge, Kevin Owens, and more.

Three matches have been confirmed for HIAC 2021 thus far. WWE Champion Bobby Lashley will defend against Drew McIntyre in another potential main event, Charlotte Flair challenges for Rhea Ripley's Raw Women's Championship, and Bianca Belair puts the SmackDown Women's Title on the line against Bayley.
