WWE Raw Review 07/01 - The Night of The Jobbers, CM Punk and The Rock’s Return

Matt Striker interviews Randy Orton and 3MB

These boys kept it simple as well but seeing as Orton isn€™t a convincing face and 3MB are a comedy jobber act at best, it came across as cheesy and cheap. No real value in this segment but 3MB get time in front of the camera which is a good thing when you realise you always need a heel jobber group for the upcoming faces to beat.

Team Rhodes Scholars Vs Team Hell No

Once again we get a rehashed match we have seen several times on free TV over the past months but I am quite pleased to say this match had a great tempo. All performers had a good showing and the match moved quickly. They did a lot with the time they had and thankfully the pin fall on Bryan left him protected after his €œknee injury€. Team Rhodes Scholars should win the belts soon as they have all the momentum, have great chemistry with each other and I feel that Kane and Bryan have milked there admittedly hilarious combination dry now. It€™s time for both these great superstars to move out of the tag division and move on as single competitors as there are now enough established teams to move forward with the division.

Heath Slater Vs Randy Orton

As I said previously regarding 3MB they are a great group for up and coming talent to face off and defeat but a multi-time World Champion like Orton I don€™t understand. It makes more sense later on in the show but only a little. I kind of feel Orton phoned this one in seeing as he is now officially a veteran but some effort to make a younger guy look good wouldn€™t go a miss but the main action of this was to keep Randy looking hot. Boring and pointless unfortunately.

Wade Barrett Vs Santino W/ Ricky The Dragon Steamboat

This was always going to be a short affair considering Barrett has only just won the IC title but it was nice to see Santino get right into it with an almost steamboat looking arm drag. If this match was given longer it could have proved a nice little filler feud for Barrett to be occupied with around the Rumble but alas, it was just a squash match to keep Barrett€™s momentum going but with a tiny storyline thrown in. Nice to see Ricky there though and for Wade to be scared off. It€™s unlikely we will see Steamboat return again anytime soon seeing as he was only there with the NXT guys who are housed in Florida but if he does we could get a nice mini storyline to tie over both talents for a short time. On a side note though am I the only person who thinks Wade€™s finisher is awful? Yes it€™s an elbow to the face and from a guy as big as Barrett you could say it would be effective but it simply looks terrible and he never gets a nice connection. I€™d lose that move before it actually affects his character and progression.

Matt Striker interviews Sheamus and 3MB

Well we saw this one coming now didn€™t we? What Orton can do, Sheamus can do better seems the directive creative have given these two guys. Very much a throw away segment much like Orton€™s but I would say that Sheamus, being an under average talker at best, didn€™t get across the fact that there was even to be a match. His Irish shtick has now moved away from the Celtic Warrior and now more like the Village Drunk. Either way 3MB get more TV time and a high profile opponent, Click "next" below to part 3...
