Anyone but you, Stephanie. Anyone but you.

Hold on to your hats, ladies and gentleman: the ride is about to begin.

The Royal Rumble is here, and what a show WWE has lined up for us. Two Rumble matches? Two World Title bouts? The prospect of Stephanie McMahon entering the women’s battle royal at number 30 and winning the whole thing? If that happens, I may well abandon this company.

The 2018 Royal Rumble has plenty of issues, but it is what it is. This is WWE’s most important show of the year without question. If the Rumble is a success, the company can move forward to WrestleMania with no small amount of confidence. If the second biggest pay-per-view of the year is a mess, Vince McMahon and company may well be in trouble.

There may only be six matches booked for Sunday night, but WWE has never had so many moving parts to get in line ahead of the Show of Shows. Getting everything right is going to be problematic, but it can be done. WWE will make plenty of mistakes on Sunday - but certain things need to be done correctly as we continue on the Road to WrestleMania.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
