WWE SmackDown Live!: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (3 Oct)
9. He Bangs The Drums
Destined for defeat yet again this Sunday, Dolph Ziggler's expected loss to Bobby Roode at Hell in a Cell will at least bring an end to a spectacularly irritating month in a career full of them.
Ziggler's efforts to irritate from the entrance ramp have been partially successful. He's certainly been the most infuriating blue brand figure since taking aim at Roode's 'GLORIOUS' theatrics via p*ss-poor parody, but the poorly performed joke wore thin in the very first week and the entire programme has felt like a giant rib at his expense since.
One need only look to the added flavour WWE have seasoned his impressions and impersonations with. After aping Shawn Michaels, he referred to himself as 'The Greatest In-Ring Performer In WWE History', which drew audible groans from a live crowd diminishing in number by the week.
For his final salvo, he knocked together an intentionally shoddy self-made spectacle, complete with streamers, an air-horn and fittingly, a massive drum he wouldn't stop beating.
The message was literally loud and clear. As it will be on Sunday when, yet again, Ziggler stares at the spotlights he once bathed under.
