WWE To Reunite Lana And Rusev?

When WWE originally split Lana and Rusev, they had envisioned that Lana would take-off as a babyface character. The company had hopes of her one day becoming the top female star in the company, much in the same way that Sable did so in the late 1990s. Instead, the company quickly realized that the Lana character lost much of her appeal when she was broken away from her real-life boyfriend, Rusev. Part of what made Lana's character so interesting was her acting ability and talent in portraying the evil Russian female manager. However, when you take her away from Rusev, the Lana character really has nowhere to go and has been floundering during recent months. She's still forced to talk in the Russian accent, though the company has slowly tried to "Americanize" her. Now, after a failed storyline alongside Dolph Ziggler against Rusev and Summer Rae, there is talk that WWE will reunite Lana with Rusev when they finally wrap up the present angle. This is according to a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

At the moment, Lana is recovering from a broken wrist, an injury that will reportedly keep her out of physical action for around four months. She can obviously still appear in an acting role, but WWE was clearly working toward an inter-gender tag team match between the four characters when Lana injured herself while training. She had surgery on September 10, with a plate and screw put into her wrist. WWE continues to play-up the story in Lana's absense, with Dolph giving Summer Rae a gift of earrings during this past Monday's edition of RAW. Last night on SmackDown, in regards to the gift, Dolph told Summer, "Sometimes a rose is just a rose, or then again, sometimes it's something more."
