WWE WrestleMania 31 Rumour: Brock Lesnar May Retain WWE Title

Lesnar to stay champion after reportedly signing a new deal with WWE.

The big news surrounding WrestleMania 31 on March 29 is whether or not Brock Lesnar will stay in WWE after his contract expires days after the event. He's going to be at WrestleMania, then Raw the next night and that's it as far as we know for now. The expectation was that whether he stays in WWE or heads to UFC, he is going to drop the WWE Title to challenger Roman Reigns at the event. However, a new rumour shared by Reddit user MetsFan4Ever suggests that perhaps Lesnar will win the match and stay in WWE after all. Before getting to the rumour, keep in mind that stories like this have come up from time to time from this former WWE employee that has contacts within the company, so nothing is for sure at this time. This insider has been right about some things and he's been wrong about things too. It is merely a rumour and should be treated as such. As we all know from watching WWE over the years, they have been known to change their mind during the decision making process. According to the post by MetsFan4Ever on Reddit, "Lesnar is very close to agreeing on a new contract with the WWE. With the lack of popularity that Roman Reigns has received as of late, Triple H is pushing Vince McMahon on the idea of keeping the WWE Championship on Brock." Lesnar would continue working in WWE on a limited schedule meaning he may not wrestle another match until SummerSlam 2015 if WWE decides to keep him on the four matches per year kind of schedule that he's been on, which we assume would be the case. In order to make up for Lesnar's absences as the champion, WWE has been building up the United States and Intercontinental Titles on the road to WrestleMania. The plan would be to have John Cena beat Rusev for the US Title at WrestleMania while Daniel Bryan would win the IC Title at WrestleMania in the ladder match, which would put the two secondary titles on two of the company's biggest stars. It's actually a smart move because then you could put Cena and Bryan in main event type matches at live events, TVs and PPVs with those titles on the line. It really would make those titles seem more important. There are all kinds of questions that come to mind regarding this rumour like if it would be a wise to build Reigns up so strong and have him lose to Lesnar because that would be really damaging to his career. Would Reigns be able to bounce back from this? Then there's Seth Rollins, who is carrying around that Money in the Bank briefcase that would expire in June. When would Rollins cash in the briefcase, if at all? Because if Rollins did a cash in, then failed because they want to keep the title on Lesnar then that makes Rollins look like a loser too. As noted, this is just a rumour and is one of several ideas that WWE is likely pondering as we sit here less than two weeks away from WrestleMania. Best thing we can do is keep it in the back of our minds as a possibility of what could happen. Lesnar staying in WWE would be great because he's such an awesome performer even as a part timer only. What do you think? Is this scenario likely or is it a bit of a reach? Offer your take in the comments below.
