10 New Directions For WWE After SummerSlam 2025
10. “We’re Not Friends” Ruling For A While
Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss were the right choice as winners on Saturday. Anyone disappointed that the Women's Tag-Team Titles changed hands should remember that Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez were only champs because of Liv Morgan's injury - getting the belts off of them and onto a clear focal point duo was always going to be necessary, and the "We're Not Friends" thing Alexa and Charlotte have cooking has been getting over on SmackDown.
There was a nice moment with Bliss accidentally clocking Flair too, which will surely come back up in their story eventually. Hopefully not for a while though, because these ladies have chemistry together. Also, this is the first time in living memory that Charlotte feels genuinely over as a babyface, so the writers have to keep that ticking for as long as possible.
Your new Women’s Tag-Team Champs should rule the roost for the rest of the year. After that, some tension will bubble to the surface (because that's typically the go to story for thrown-together tags in this division), and they'll probably build up to a match between Bliss and Flair at WrestleMania 42.
You just know a heel turn for one of them is incoming. It'll likely be Charlotte.
The tandem are experienced enough to work with pretty much anybody, and it'd be sweet to see them head over to NXT for a few matches too. Failing that, Flair and Bliss can match up well against all comers on the main shows. There are some seriously impressive Women's Tag Title bouts incoming, people.
