25 Worst Wrestling Moments Of 2020
9. Baron Corbin = Murderer?!
Baron Corbin was fresh off butchering Kurt Angle's retirement in 2019 when he had murderous intent yet again in mid-2020. The heel, who had bored everyone senseless as both 'Constable' and 'King', hurled Rey Mysterio and Aleister Black off the roof of the old WWE HQ at Money In The Bank.
At the time, it was implied that Corbin had killed multiple wrestlers because he was so hell bent on hauling down the briefcase for a guaranteed World Title shot. There's taking things too far, then there's taking things too far. Later, it was revealed that both Rey and Aleister had landed on a platform below which just so happened to be there.
OK then, sure.
Booking this happenstance spot didn't even help the match. Neither Mysterio nor Black seemed especially annoyed at Baron for trying to murder them by chucking them off Titan Towers to the concrete below just to win a wrestling match, and everyone just sort of moved on like nothing had happened.
'What are the chances of that?', announcers pondered. They were, of course, harking back to the handy platform that had saved 2 workers from doom. The chances? Not excellent, but at least WWE didn't have to honour this and script kayfabe deaths for Rey Rey and Al.
Being real, this was on par with Steve Austin attempting to murder Triple H back at Survivor Series 2000 on the scale of 'too cool - too much'. MITB's story wasn't even framed around such an act - it was a random moment few were talking about as soon as Otis and Asuka pulled down both cases.
