5 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (25 May - Results & Review)
4. Page Stirs The Pot
Fresh off an impressive Intercontinental Championship match, Ethan Page came to Raw Monday night to get another shot at the title, but he instead opted to create a bit of friction backstage.
Page approached Raw GM Adam Pearce and Rey Mysterio while the two were discussing possibly granting Rey an IC title match (which Penta had suggested earlier). All Ego erupted at the notion of Pearce gifting Je’Von Evans a title match earlier in the night and potentially handing his fellow GM an IC shot before granting Page a rematch.
Ethan’s tirade was upended by Rusev, who walked up and asked what was going on. Page wisely and sneakily pivoted, saying Pearce and Mysterio were conspiring against the Bulgarian to have Rey jump the line for the Intercontinental Championship. Rusev naturally blew up at this news, leading to an impromptu match between the two, while Page smirked.
This segment was all Ethan, with Page manipulating the situation on the fly and yet again avoiding a confrontation with Rusev. He also set himself up nicely: only one of those two would get a title shot, removing one obstacle between himself and the IC title.
