3. The Ultimate Warrior’s Last Promo Was Nearly EVEN MORE EERIE

The Ultimate Warrior’s last public words were infamously haunting. He cut a promo on the Raw after WrestleMania 30, immediately out of breath and looking an alarming shade of red under an ill-fitting child’s replica mask, and spoke as if at peace with his own mortality, resigned to and even accepting of the inevitable. 

“Every man’s heart one day beats it final beat, and his lungs one day breathe their final breath - and if what that man did in his life makes his blood pulse through the body of others, and makes them believe deeper in something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalised.” 

Warrior’s promos were never not strange, but this was different. He wasn’t talking about intergalactic combat mumbo jumbo. He was performing a eulogy for himself, when he was alive, and died the very next day. It was one of the most eerie moments in wrestling history. It was almost even more ominous. 

According to the Warrior’s agent, Stephen Wilton, who spoke with the Caiman Show in 2021, Warrior wanted to do “this Undertaker thing” either at WrestleMania or on the subsequent Raw. Wilton was vague, but stated that Warrior wanted “to be like carried away, gong, and the Ultimate Warrior wouldn’t be there anymore”. Triple H refused Warrior’s request, reasoning that WWE had only just welcomed him back into the fold. A symbolic onscreen death would have prevented Warrior from making further appearances, or at least made writing around them a tricky process. 

So in essence, the Warrior performed his own eulogy on the Raw after WrestleMania - but actually wanted to stage his own funeral a day before his actual death.
