Another WWE Talent's Contract Expiring Soon
Yet another WWE star's contract is expiring this summer.
Following reports earlier in the week that Angel's WWE contract is set to expire this August, now comes word that Angel's tag team partner is in the same boat.
As per Fightful Select, Berto's existing WWE deal is up in August. And much like his partner and real-life cousin, the Legado Del Fantasma man has been in negotiations with WWE over a new deal, with the market leader having already made Berto an offer.
A third-generation talent, Berto has been with WWE since 2018, debuting in NXT as Humberto Carrillo. Carrillo would briefly be a part of the company's relaunched cruiserweight division before getting a main roster call-up to the Raw brand in 2019.
In the time since then, the 28-year-old has switched from Humberto Carrillo, to Humberto, back to Humberto Carrillo, and now to Berto. Likewise, he's bounced between the main roster and NXT, and also bounced between the singles and tag ranks, tagging with Angel as Los Lotharios as the pair now find themselves a part of Legado Del Fantasma.
This is just the latest WWE contract news, with Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor all signing new deals in recent weeks and months, while Chad Gable, Ricochet, and Natalya are amongst those whose deals are nearing an end. In the case of Gable, his existing contract actually comes to an end on Friday, with no new deal agreed as of this writing. Of course, there's also Becky Lynch, who became a free agent last weekend and is expected to take an extended break from the ring, with many presuming the Man will eventually pen a new WWE deal as and when she opts to resume her in-ring career.
