Another WWE Contract Expiring Soon

Another WWE contract is set to expire this summer.

Angel Garza
WWE

With the contract status of several WWE talents being in the news for the past few months, one other name now in that conversation is Angel.

As per Fightful Select, Angel's existing WWE deal is due to expire on 1 August. If no contract extension is agreed by that point, the former Cruiserweight Champion will become a free agent. However, WWE seems keen to keep the Legado Del Fantasma man, with Fightful noting how the two parties have already begun negotiations and there's a contract offer on the table.

A third-generation wrestler, Angel has been with WWE since 2019, with him soon given the Angel Garza name as he initially became part of NXT. In the years since, the Garza element of the name has been dropped and reinstated at several points, and he these days goes by just Angel.

Prior to signing with WWE, the 31-year-old went by the Garza Jr. moniker, competing in the likes of AAA and IMPACT/TNA. Fightful adds that should the one-time WWE 24/7 Champion depart the market leader, he'd be able to use the Garza name, although he would not be able to use Angel outside of WWE.

In other WWE contract news, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor recently signed deals to remain with WWE, while Ricochet, Chad Gable, and Natalya all have deals that are due to expire imminently. In the case of Gable, that expiration is this coming Friday. Away from those grapplers, Becky Lynch's contract expired last weekend, with the Man expected to take an extended break from the ring - with the belief being Lynch will ultimately sign a new WWE deal at a later point.
