Report: Yet ANOTHER WWE Wrestler's Contract Expiring Soon

Current champion's deal is up this summer as the parade of soon-to-be free agents continues.

Add Ricochet to the list of WWE superstars whose contracts are expiring this spring/summer.

Fightful Select reports that the current WWE Speed Champion's deal is set to expire this summer. He reportedly signed a five-year deal in 2019. WWE sources have told Fightful that contract discussions are planned between wrestler and company.

If a new deal can't be reached, Ricochet would be a highly courted wrestler by nearly every wrestling company. Recently, AEW International Champion Will Ospreay opined about Ricochet, saying he "get(s) a little bit sad" about how the One and Only is used in WWE, adding that he wants to wrestle Ricochet again.

The two have faced each other several times in singles matches, most recently in August 2017 for WhatCulture Pro Wrestling.

Ricochet signed with WWE in 2018, competing in NXT first, where he won the North American Championship before making his main roster debut in February 2019. He often is cited as one of the top examples of superstars who were badly mishandled by WWE during that era, with a series of stop-start pushes or an outright lack of creative opportunities or television time.

Currently, Ricochet is involved in a rivalry with Ilja Dragunov, with both men being attacked this week by Bron Breakker. He became the inaugural WWE Speed Champion last month, competing in matches that air exclusively on X (formerly Twitter) and have a three-minute time limit.

The 35-year-old is engaged to Raw ring announcer Samantha Irvin, which has been incorporated into storylines previously.

Fightful notes that there are several WWE contracts up this year, several of which are five-year deals signed in 2019, and some three-year extensions inked in 2021.

Recently, Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre re-signed with the company, while Becky Lynch's contract expired Saturday. Chad Gable's deal reportedly expires on 7 June.
