WWE Backlash 2026: 9 Nightmares That Could Come True

4. It’s Roman’s Last Match For Months

Win or lose, there are no guarantees that Roman Reigns will be on television much after Backlash. Currently, he's scheduled to miss a big chunk of time in June, but could miss out on the 23 May edition of Saturday Night's Main Event and the special Clash In Italy PLE right at the end of the month too.

That's a bit of a bummer to think about, eh? Roman himself said post-‘Mania that he’d be around more often as World Champ, so what if that turns out to be false and he’s gone again after this? Worse, what if he'll be sitting at home or working out in his own private gym with the belt sitting in storage?

It won't sit well if Raw goes back to having a part-time champion again. The comments Reigns made to fans during the WrestleMania wrap up show suggest that even he's aware of how crap it is to have the 'A' show linger without a head champ for too long. If that's the case, then...don't do it.

This would have to be considered poor contingency planning from WWE if Roman does bolt from screens yet again, and everyone's tired of those 'Roman Reigns Returns' graphics that the promotion oh-so-loves. They're tedious. Keep him around, because he'll help the flagship.

If he doesn't want to work SNME, then booking something for Clash In Italy is a real must. Maybe a rematch with Fatu could be on the cards, or Roman could bang heads with another one-off challenger. Just don't vanish, my 'Tribal Chief'!
