WWE Planning To Reunite The Usos As A Tag Team (WWE News)

The Usos could be back as a tag team sooner rather than later.

With Jey Uso having lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther on this week's Raw, it looks as if WWE could have plans to reunite the Usos.

This comes courtesy of Cory Hays at BodySlam.net, who notes how WWE had planned to reunite Jey and Jimmy Uso as a tag team act at some point this year. And with Main Event Jey having now lost that World Heavyweight Title, a full-on reunion with Big Jim could well be on the cards sooner rather than later.

Interestingly, Xavier Woods took to social media in the aftermath of Jey Uso's loss to Gunther, with Woods and Kofi Kingston shown laughing at the Ring General regaining the World Heavyweight Championship. Of course, the New Day are nowadays the World Tag Team Champions, not to mention their extensive history with the Usos.

Could this be the start of a rekindling of the rivalry between the New Day and the Usos? It's certainly possible...

One minor stumbling block to the reformation of the Usos, mind, is that Jimmy Uso is a SmackDown talent, whilst Jey Uso is a member of the Raw roster. Then again, when has WWE ever let the roster split get in the way of things... ?

On top of that, there were reports this week of a WWE Draft being scheduled for SummerSlam time, and there's always the chance that WWE may opt to run another Transfer Window at some point. The point being, having Jimmy join up with Jey on Raw is doable by any variety of means.

In terms of the narrative pushed by WWE, the Usos may well be positioned as the greatest tag team of all time.

Since debuting on the main roster in 2010, Jimmy and Jey have had eight runs as Tag Team Champions, plus have the accolade of being in the first tag team WrestleMania main event since the inaugural 'Mania, with the Usos facing Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in the Night 1 headliner at WrestleMania 39.

As for working solely as a tag team act, the Usos were last in action together at Money in the Bank 2023 as they picked up a win over Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. However, while they've gone their separate ways since then - including a match against each other at WrestleMania 40 - Jimmy and Jey have come together at last year's Crown Jewel (teaming with Roman against Solo, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga), at Survivor Series later that same month (as part of WarGames, again with Roman, and also with CM Punk), and they had a one-ff reunion this past March for a Raw episode from Glasgow, Scotland.

If it is indeed the New Day that's the catalyst to the Usos becoming a full-time tag tandem again, that would certainly be apropos. Those two teams have been mainstays of WWE's tag team ranks over the past decade or more, complete with the Usos memorably giving a helping hand to Kofi Kingston's rise to the WWE Championship, and the New Day themselves have a mammoth 13 Tag Team Title reigns to their name.
