WWE SummerSlam 2026: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True
Reunited, and it feels so...RUBBISH! The worst of the worst WWE could pull at SummerSlam.
SummerSlam needs Cody Rhodes to go heel and freshen up the main event scene on SmackDown. It needs Oba Femi to conquer his Hell In A Cell war vs. Brock Lesnar and rocket to the top of the food chain. It needs Roman Reigns to close the lid on files marked 'The Shield', and it needs to be a successful weekend that breathes fresh life into a struggling WWE weekly product.
Will all of the above happen? Probably not. Cue some of Triple H's worst nightmares.
Or, more accurately, they're nightmares for select fans tuning into SummerSlam hoping for the best. You know the drill by now: This is a negativity fuelled look through the cracks in fan fingers. It's basically the worst case scenarios that could happen on the company's next PLE, and there isn't much room for positivity found elsewhere.
Across Saturday and Sunday, unwanted title changes could occur. Then, as if acting as a crappy, unwanted complement to that, the belts that should change hands might not! Injuries could continue to plague one of the most affected divisions in the industry too, and someone who was earning plaudits for shifting merch aplenty might well be booed out of the building harder than his segment bombed on Monday's episode of Raw.
Then, there's The Bloodline. It's a never-ending tale that simply refuses to budge, and now WWE bosses seem content to 'replay the hits' because they're running out of ideas. It's nWo-esque, and that is not meant as a compliment in the slightest.
Is it October and Halloween? Only asking because things could get terrifying.
10. Baron Corbin Whoops That Trick
When WWE fans chant, "Whoop that Trick! Whoop that Trick! Whoop that Trick!" over and over during Trick Willy's entrance, they're definitely not encouraging opponents to give him a stiff beatdown. It's become a term of endearment for thousands in the stands, but there are genuine fears that Baron Corbin could leave Minnesota as the new United States Champion.
Look, this isn't meant to be some brutal bashing of the ex-'Constable'. He's only just returned to the fold, and Corbin definitely deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt for now. However, should he be beating Williams for that gold? Hell no. Even those who yearn for the days of Baron at his Kurt Angle-beating erm...best would surely agree that he has no business toppling a rising star like Trick.
It could happen though.
After all, Corbs has only just returned to WWE life, and he might have a fair few supporters in the writing room. Someone like Bruce Prichard or Michael Hayes would probs go to bat for Baron and suggest that giving him a short-term run would spice things up a little. No, that'd be a substitute for doing what you should be doing: Developing Trick and focusing on his blossoming feud with old partner turned enemy Carmelo Hayes.
Corbin should be a speed bump at most. If he's clutching that bespoke, furry version of the US Title on Sunday night in Minneapolis, then WWE might need to wheel out the funeral gig yet again. Not for Gingerbread Man, but for Williams and his push.
