You could pick any cover from Marguerite Bennet's recent run on Batwoman and easily argue its place as one of the best covers of the last two years. The covers of Batwoman have universally been gorgeous, gothically-inspired and packed with symbolism. However, it is Dan Panosian's cover for issue 17 that stood out in 2018.
Macarbe, but beautiful. Ominous, but alluring. The gears of a clock, no doubt very deliberately reminiscent of weeping blood, could easily be roses cascading from the cape of a Renaissance-esque Batwoman. All in all, Bennet's Batwoman has been a series rife with stunning covers, but issue 17's beautifully illustrated juxtaposition of gothic and lustful imagery stands head and shoulders above the rest.
