Moon Knight, much like Batwoman, has had a phenomenal year for covers. We've seen striking illustrations ranging from a pastiche of American Gothic to symbolic masterpieces featuring tangles of brain matter. It speaks volumes, then, that Becky Cloonan's cover for Moon Knight #195 is the most visually striking of the lot.
As is true with most things, less is more, and his cover more than proves that old adage. From the shadows off-panel, Moon Knight is touched disembodied scarlet hands that seem to be caressing, grasping and scratching all at once.
Equal parts haunting, eerie, and enticing, Cloonan had created one of the most memorable Marvel covers in recent years.
