6. Yinsen - Iron Man
Ho Yinsen is the crucial surgeon whose steady hands guaranteed the first Iron Man flick continued past the ten minute mark. Taken prisoner by the despicable Ten Rings terrorist cell, Yinsen is made to assist the newly captured Tony Stark in developing weapons of mass destruction. The two become friends during their time in captivity, and devise the very first Iron Man suit in a daring bid to break free.
We get several mentions of Yinsen's family during his time on screen. What we don't realise until Yinsen's dying moments, however, is that they're already dead. Biding time for Tony while his suit finishes activating, Yinsen gets himself violently killed at the hands of his captors. By the time Stark reaches him, he is in his final moments, bloodied and incapacitated by his enemies' attack.
Realising Yinsen stuck around only to help him escape, Stark is permanently changed by the experience and begins his journey into heroism. This quest to save the world would define him for the rest of the series. The first of many sad demises in the MCU, Yinsen's death and the reveal of his family's slaughter are harrowing to say the least.
