4. We Got To See Bruce Working On His Own

Bruce Wayne has obviously spent time working on his own in the comic book world, yet that’s becoming an increasingly rare sight to see these days.

While Batman has so often had a Robin by his side, there’s also been Batgirls, Nightwings, Red Robins, Batwomen, Red Hoods, Oracles, Spoilers, Catwomen, Batwings, Blue Birds, and so many other sidekicks and partners assisting the World’s Greatest Detective as he looks to fight the good fight.

The point being, it’s rare to see Bruce working on a largely solo basis.

In Gotham, while Alfred, Selina Kyle, and Jim Gordon would all work with Master Bruce at points, audiences got to see plentiful examples of Bruce Wayne working on his lonesome, stewing over his problems, questioning his own city, and trying to get himself to his absolute mental and physical peaks.

What Gotham did so well, is that it set Bruce up with the unrelenting determination and the sheer will to win that would become such a major part of the character upon him becoming Batman down the line. And by having Bruce not being too reliant on anyone else in Gotham, the series allowed for these attributes and that mentality to really shine through.
