Avengers: Endgame - 11 New Heroes It Could Introduce

2. The Eternals

The Eternals was a surprise inclusion for Marvel's Phase 4 plans, but it seems as though the studio are very keen on the project, with filming set to commence later this year. Given Marvel's reported enthusiasm for the project, it wouldn't be at all surprising if the Eternals - or at least either one of Ikaris or Sersi - were to appear in Endgame, and according to rumour, that may just be the case.

Daniel R claimed back in November that two Eternals - Piper and Sprite - were to appear in the post-credits for either Captain Marvel or Avengers 4, and with Captain Marvel having passed with no Eternals cameo, that leaves Endgame as the only candidate for them to appear.

It's worth mentioning that this is all still rumour, as well as the fact that (as far as we are aware) no one has been cast in any given role for the upcoming Eternals film, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. There's a bit of a competitive nature to the Eternals film, with DC pressing ahead on New Gods - it too a Jack Kirby creation - so it could be possible that Marvel are keen to beat their competitors to the punch.

Either way, it'll be interesting to see how Endgame's post-credits play out. One would suspect it'll have something to do with Far From Home, or potentially even Black Widow, given it's likely to be the first Marvel film of 2020, but if Marvel are as determined to make the Eternals a key part of Phase 4, it makes sense to tease their arrival as soon as possible.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
