10 "Doomed" Upcoming Movies That Might Actually Succeed

9. Ballerina

Borderlands Good
Lionsgate

On paper a John Wick spin-off starring Ana de Armas as a ballerina-assassin sounds freakin' awesome, but Lionsgate recently delayed the film an entire year to June 2025, no matter that principal photography wrapped way back in February 2022.

Rumours soon began doing the rounds that the film was a "mess" and that the studio was planning to reshoot the vast majority of it - hence the year-long delay.

Couple this with star Ian McShane flat-out stating that the movie wasn't good enough in its current state, and it's easy to be incredibly skeptical about the project - especially with Len Wiseman (Underworld) directing, whose filmography consists of almost wall-to-wall duds.

There is a glimmer of hope, though, given that the extensive reshoots are being overseen by Chad Stahelski, who has directed all four mainline John Wick movies to date.

Given that Stahelski is said to be working on additional action sequences for the film, his keen eye for gorgeous, crunchy set pieces just might shape Ballerina into something actually worth watching.
