10 '90s Horror Movies You Probably Haven’t Seen

7. The Rage: Carrie 2

Treading all over the mastery seen in Brian De Palma's 1976 adaptation of Stephen King's classic horror novel Carrie, The Rage brings back sole survivor of Carrie's original rampage Sue Snell (Amy Irving) for a no-holds barred disasterpiece.

Some 20 years after the events of the first film, Sue is now the guidance counsellor at a new school where Rachel (Emily Bergl) -- Carrie's half-sister -- is making her own journey of self-discovery. After her best friend is exploited by their male classmates and commits suicide, Rachel goes off the rails and soon she is using her powers for bloody vengeance on an unprecedented scale.

Using the basic premise of Carrie's psychic abilities as a jumping off point, the film takes great joy in constantly trying to one-up its own gore quota with a series of increasingly grim injuries and kills (harpoon castration, anyone?). Perhaps the most egregious element of all though is Sue's untimely demise, as Rachel kills her with a telekinetically launched fire poker to the head.

There are good reasons nobody has seen The Rage, and it's probably better if we keep it that way.
