2. Minnie Driver - Good Will Hunting
It takes a strong person to be able to navigate all of Will's emotional damage in this film, and she is totally up to the challenge. I think Skylar is a really great representation of a well-rounded woman, something that you don't see too much on screen. She's clever and a bit posh, of course -- after all, she is going to Harvard, and about to head off to Stanford. But at the same time, she isn't thrown off by Will and his working class friends. I like that she's equally at home in a Southie bar as she is at Harvard. It says a lot about her self confidence and character that she doesn't feel awkward out of her comfort zone. Most people would be heading for the hills if they were in her shoes, not because Will is a bad guy or anything, he just has so many issues that he needs to work out before he can really have a shot at a normal relationship. But she sticks with it, because she is capable of seeing what's underneath the anger and resentment Will carries around with him every day. But beyond that, I just think Skylar seems like a lot of fun. She can have a serious, empathetic conversation with Will one minute, and then be a total goofball the next. I put her on the list because she seems like she would be a blast to have around. Out of all the women on this list, she'd probably be my first choice to go to a bar with. And of course, you can't forget her ability to tell a truly adorable dirty joke.
