10 A-List Actors Who Did Z-Grade Horror Films
2. Henry Cavill - Hellraiser: Hellworld
This is sequel #7 in the Hellraiser franchise, and just like all the others it’s a cheap time waster you’ll forget 5 minutes after the end credits roll. The only reason to bother with Hellworld is the cast, which includes Lance Henriksen, Kathryn Winnick and, in the role that somehow didn’t make him famous, Henry Cavill.
Along with Winnick, Cavill’s a hardcore gamer smitten with an online version of the Lament Configuration (the puzzle box that summons the Cenobites), so when Henriksen throws a party for gaming fans at a creepy house, they decide to attend. This leads to much Saw-influenced mayhem as well as a sequence where Henriksen tempts fate with the line, “It’s like a bad horror movie, isn’t it?”
Winnick gets the lead damsel in distress role, which means that Cavill’s role is basically that of an anonymous hunk who has “cannon fodder” written all over him. The most remarkable thing about the picture is how much 22 year old Cavill looks like an understudy for 26 year old Brandon Routh, who’d just been cast in Superman Returns.
