The Dark Knight will forever be called a cursed production by those who like to use such terms thanks to its fabled effect on Heath Ledger, but it also saw the tragic death of special effects technician Conway Wickliffe during filming.

Wickliffe was riding in the back of a 4x4 when it crashed into a tree at 20mph as he was leaning out operating a camera to shoot a stunt car driving alongside. They were filming a test run for the destruction of the Batmobile and the car he was riding in failed to make a necessary turn before the crash.

The Dark Knight is dedicated to his memory.
