6. Morgan Freeman Turned Down A Role As God In This Is The End
When Seth Rogen and his partner Evan Goldberg sat down to write their meta-horror movie This Is The End, they presumably had a ball imagining cameos from pretty much everyone in Hollywood - we know this because just about everyone in Hollywood makes an appearance in the final version of the movie, prompting the question: did anyone say no? We got Rihanna and Emma Watson, sure, but lots of people turned down the opportunity to appear, too. Which included the likes of Elizabeth Banks (scheduling conflicts), Cameron Diaz (budgeting issues), Edward Norton (scheduling conflicts), Daniel Radcliffe (didn't like all the Harry Potter references), Mila Kunis (scheduling conflicts), and... Morgan Freeman. Yep, Rogen and Goldberg had originally envisioned an ending - and written it into the script - where Freeman turns up in Heaven and pretends he's God as a sort of introduction prank for new arrivals. The whole "Morgan Freeman is God" thing might seem a little tired nowadays given that Bruce Almighty came out about 10 years ago, but there's no denying that - had this happened somehow - the laughs in theatres everywhere would have rocked the Heavens. Still, Freeman turned down the chance to spoof his God-like persona for unexplained reasons. "I think it's the biggest mistake Morgan Freeman ever made," Seth Rogen has said on the matter. So do we.
