10 Actors That Gambled Their Careers By NOT Taking Huge Movie Roles

1. Henry Winkler - Danny In Grease

Henry Winkler will go down in history for his role as the Fonz, a hugely popular greaser character from the tv show Happy Days, but he almost played the other most famous greaser in Hollywood history: Danny Zuko.

Winkler was offered the role because of his portrayal of The Fonz, but he turned it down because he didn't want to be typecast.

Now we all know who eventually was cast in Grease as the popular boy at school Danny, but do we all recall what Winkler got up to after turning down such a famous role? No, I didn't think so.

Nowadays Winkler is known for his small roles in tv sitcoms like Parks and Recreation, but there was a serious lull in his career for a while there; something that he himself will admit to.

You see, unlike most actors on this list, Winker will openly admit to his mistake. He spoke openly about the experience in a magazine, saying that he listened to his head instead of his gut and that sometimes you really should just trust your initial instinct. Winkler was hilariously quoted saying "I went home and bought an orange juice, Travolta went home and brought a plane."

At least he's honest!

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
