10 Actors Who Appeared In Star Wars And Doctor Who

The late Michael Sheard didn't have much screen time in the Star Wars universe, but his small role has become the subject of a fascinating fan theory in the decades since.

Popping up in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back, Sheard played Admiral Ozzel, a high-ranking Empire officer who oversaw the siege of Hoth in the early stages of the movie. Unfortunately for him though, this offensive didn't work out, and a pissed-off Vader Force-choked him to death for his tactical ineptitude.

The fact that Ozzel failed at his job and made it easier for the Rebels to escape has led to the theory that he was actually a Rebel spy, or even just a Rebel sympathizer. And hey, with Hux being outed as a spy in The Rise of Skywalker, it's not completely bonkers to suggest that Ozzel was in a similar situation.

Jumping over to the small screen, and Sheard's Doctor Who résumé is one of the most impressive of all time. Between 1966 and 1988, he appeared in no less than six different serials opposite five different Doctors (the most notable of these being his role as Scarman in the Fourth Doctor story Pyramids of Mars), and even did an audio drama with Eighth Doctor Paul McGann in 2001. That's quite the Whoniverse legacy!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
