10 Actors Who Are Actually Brilliant Musicians

3. Johnny Depp

Looks-wise Johnny Depp has totally nailed the rock'n'roll gunslinger a la Keith Richards vibe. Fortunately for Johnny, he can not only walk the walk, but talk the talk. He did play some guitar in the indie movie Chocalat many years ago, and there are a few glimpses in some of his TV adverts, but to really see what he is capable of, a tour of YouTube is the quickest way to the heart of the matter.

A long time member of supergroup The Hollywood Vampires, Depp has lined up alongside many of the heavyweights of modern rock'n'roll, including Alice Cooper and Joe Perry from Aerosmith. That such notables are happy to have Depp as part of their ensemble speaks volumes for the credibility of Depp as a musician. Not only is he a pretty good guitarist, he's also got a great singing voice, best showcased on his rendition of Bowie's Heroes on the Vampires' live dates.

Admittedly there may be an element of fascination with the Depp mystique from the rock fraternity, but if there was no substance to back up the image, Depp's contributions would have added up to little more than cameo appearances. Even Marilyn Manson has often had Depp perform a couple of songs live, proving he is the real deal.
