10 Actors Who Asked For Their TV & Movie Characters To Be Killed Off
8. Sigourney Weaver - Alien
Even though Sigourney Weaver rose to fame playing Ellen Ripley in the Alien movies, she decided to quit while filming 1991's Alien 3. Her reason? She found out that Fox was developing Alien Vs Predator, a movie whose concept didn't sit quite well with her. She was proud of the franchise and felt that Alien Vs Predator would ruin it.
Weaver wasn't the only one who had a problem with Alien Vs Predator. James Cameron and Ridley Scott had directed the first two Alien movies. Both of them quit Aliens 3 after learning that Fox was continuing production on Alien Vs Predator.
Sigourney Weaver had her character killed off. Ellen Ripley heroically jumped into a furnace to prevent an alien inside her from hatching. Weaver would reluctantly return in 1997's Alien: Resurrection where Ripley is cloned from leftover blood samples 200 years later.
Alien Vs Predator was eventually released in 2004. It confirmed all the fears James Cameron, Ridley Scott, and Sigourney Weaver had expressed.
