10 Actors Who Became Awesome Directors

8. Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood's career is basically the pinnacle for any actor hoping to become a director, because back when Clint was the grizzled lead of Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, who ever would've predicted he'd go on to become an all-time great filmmaker?

2021 marks 50 years (!) since Eastwood made his directorial debut with the delicious psychological thriller Play Misty for Me, and he's rarely gone more than a couple of years between making movies since.

Eastwood's famously efficient filmmaking has even allowed him to release two movies in the same year on eight separate occasions, so it's extra impressive that he has several stone-cold masterpieces to his name - most notably Unforgiven, Mystic River, and Million Dollar Baby.

With four Best Director Oscar nominations and two wins (for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby), Eastwood has surpassed what anyone could've expected from him, and even today at age 90, he's deep in post-production on his next movie, Cry Macho.
