10 Actors Who Clearly Didn't Learn Anything From Past Mistakes
4. Johnny Depp
Some of Johnny Depp's supporters are so vehement in their adoration and so enraptured with his work, that anyone seeking to criticize the man basically merits a death sentence, but he's not learning his own lessons. Whichever way you look at his recent career evolution it's obvious that Depp patently lacks self-awareness. This criticism is applicable both in a critical analysis of his recent output - with someone needing to tell this man to stop acting like a painted fool - and in a business sense (the last three Depp vehicles arrived stillborn at the box office). One dreams of the time when this man appeared in a diverse array of smaller films (like under 100 million dollars) - films like Donnie Brasco, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Ed Wood, and Dead Man. Hell, at this point we would even take The Ninth Gate or The Astronaut's Wife. But Depp has shown no desire to head back in that direction, instead choosing to ram another blast of Captain Jack down our throats, or continuing to persevere with the relationship with Tim Burton that has largely been responsible for his career nose-dive.
Adam Mohrbacher has been afflicted with an obession for film since his earliest memories. In addition to his work with WhatCulture, Adam has been a contributor with Filmophilia.com, FilmMonthly.com and Examiner.com. You can also check out his personal blog here: adammohrbacher@wordpress.com.
A devoted fan of all film genres and styles, Adam gets equally giddy over the sensitive, existential musings of Ingmar Bergman, and the brawny brilliance of Arnold Schwartzenegger. He loves fish tacos and misses the work of Heath Ledger and Jack Lemmon on a daily basis.
