5. Ben Whishaw
The Case For: Very much an up and coming actor, Whishaw is perhaps best known as the new Q in Skyfall. He played Robert Frobisher (and a few other bits and pieces) in Cloud Atlas, and has a role in Terry Gilliams upcoming The Zero Theorem. Before working the hot nerd angle in Skyfall, Whishaw played John Keats (Bright Star), Bob Dylan (Im Not There) and Keith Richards (Stoned). He was also the very creepy Jean-Baptiste Grenouille in Perfume. An impressive collection of roles for a young actor.
The Case Against: Whishaw has a tendency to look alarmingly weird when clean-shaven. He disguises this very nicely with glasses and snappy dressing in Skyfall, but its a worry nonetheless. He also went in for a touch of full-frontal nudity in Stoned, which perhaps ruins the element of mystery required to be the new Ryan Gosling.
