3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt
The Case For: Gordon-Levitt seems about able to do just about anything. From the anti-hero tough-guy in Looper to the cancer patient in 50/50, hes played a huge range of roles in a wide variety of movies. Although he seems to have been around forever, hes only 32 - the same age as Ryan Gosling. His career has been surging over the last few years, with roles in blockbusters like Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, as well as odd little movies like Premium Rush. Hes already proven himself with a surprisingly good romantic comedy, fancying Zooey Deschanel in 500 Days Of Summer.
The Case Against: Like Gosling, Levitt was a child star. Like Gosling, hes done a number of low-budget indie flicks. Like Gosling, hes recently hit the big time. Hes even stepping behind the camera to direct a movie, Don Jon, set for release sometime later this year. Just like Ryan Gosling! The case could be made that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is already doing his best to step in as Ryan Gosling, and so far hasnt succeeded. Try as I might, I cant see him making it.
