10 Actors Who Could Play Scarecrow In Matt Reeves’ The Batman

7. Tobin Bell

One of Jonathan Crane's most essential aspects is his voice. While the villain can spend some time outside of his iconic look, for the most part, he is only visible through a burlap mask. Therefore, someone with a proven vocal track record would be a great option, and who better for such a role than Tobin Bell?

Bell is incredibly notable for his part in the Saw franchise. His iconic performance as John Kramer (Jigsaw) is mostly what he's known for, and that's because his voice is haunting. It has a deep and gravely texture that makes it sound sinister and damaged, yet still incredibly authoritative and powerful. It would be great to see him lend his iconic vocal inflexions to a role outside of Billy the Puppet.

Of course, Bell might be a little too old for the role, as he's been a working actor since 1979, and is over seventy years old. However, this could lend him some favours, as an older version of the character would be completely unique, and his physical performances are still impressive to this day.

He has shown that he still has a lot to give, and his powerful voice combined with his tall frame and still/controlled physicality would make him a sublime choice.
