Up and coming British actor Sam Benjamin snagged by far the most exciting and high-profile role of his career when he landed a part in Zack Snyder's original version of Justice League.

Though there have been many rumours over the years that Benjamin was hired to play Green Lantern, we know now that he spent a week shooting a part as a military officer who appears in STAR Labs and gets caught in the middle of the League's battle against a resurrected Superman (Henry Cavill).

However on the day of the film's release, more than a year after shooting wrapped, Benjamin learned from screening reports that his role had been cut amid the film's hectic post-production process, with nobody in the Warner Bros. camp informing him of this fact.

By Benjamin's estimation, he appeared as a background character in 20-30 minutes of the movie which Joss Whedon decided to remove when he took over the troubled project.

There was a happy ending of-sorts, though: Benjamin's role was restored for the recent "Snyder Cut," confirming beyond any doubt that no, he was never playing Green Lantern.

It was a total background part, but at least Benjamin finally got his role and, perhaps most importantly, his credit restored.
