10 Actors Who Dramatically Rebranded Themselves In The Last Decade

9. Jonah Hill

It wasn't so long ago that Jonah Hill was being typecast as the chubby chucklehead in slacker comedies like Accepted and Superbad. Hill quickly established himself as a standout in the Judd Apatow/Seth Rogen gang, and he used his acerbic wit and ample tonnage to make audiences laugh.

But then, almost overnight, Hill started sneaking more dramatic characters onto his resume. We first took notice when he snagged a prime role opposite Brad Pitt in 2011's Moneyball, which earned him an Oscar nod and the ability to move freely between comedy and dramas.

Much of this had to do with the actor's huge weight loss, which, sadly, is sometimes what it takes to make audiences appreciate an actor's natural abilities.

Most of his best roles still let Hill flex his comedy muscles a little bit, as he did while landing another Oscar nominator as Donnie Azoff in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf Of Wall Street.

And sure, he still appears in his fair share of goofy comedies from time to time - as there seems to be no end in sight for the 21 Jump Street series - but now he's able to moonlight in a Scorsese or Coen Brothers film without anyone batting an eye. That's certainly a long way from his days as the second funniest guy in Seth Rogen movies.
