10 Actors Who Drew Critical Acclaim In Awful Movies

2. Jennifer Lawrence As Joy Mangano - Joy

Jennifer Lawrence has starred in a particularly eclectic mix of movies in her career, and although she's generally seen as being in possession of some notable talent, she certainly has more than a few duds lurking in her back catalogue.

Joy is just one of such titles. Its 2015 release saw it receive mixed critical reviews, but one of the only things that was consistent among them was the praise for Lawrence's leading role as Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop.

Also starring acclaimed actors such as Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, Joy was unable to spark anything close to positive reviews.

Critics claimed the otherwise "uncertain approach to its fascinating fact-based tale" was "anchored by a strong performance by Jennifer Lawrence", but had little more of note to say of the movie.

Unlike many biopics, it simply wasn't interesting or good enough to create much interest among moviegoers, but Lawrence's performance stands out as not only the movie's main redeeming factor, but further evidence that Lawrence really needs to start choosing her roles more carefully.
