10 Actors Who Gave Their WORST Performance In Great Movies

6. Sofia Coppola—The Godfather Part III

Another appearance for Francis Ford Coppola on this list—you’d think the man hadn’t directed two of the greatest films in cinema history at this rate. Well, at least it’s a list of great movies, even if these performances don’t quite make the grade. And look, this entry is the follow up to one of those greatest cinematic achievements in history!

Yes, it’s the widely maligned Godfather Part III, a film which is not only passable but which, were it not released as part of the famous trilogy, would most likely be remembered as a solid if unspectacular mob movie. What would never have been redeemed by virtue of lowered expectations, however, is the turn offered by the director’s daughter Sofia in the unfortunately pretty pivotal role of Mary Corleone. The actor is a disastrous addition, more suited to working behind the camera in her countless critically acclaimed directorial efforts than hamming it up and almost sabotaging three films worth of goodwill with over-the-top theatrics.

If only Coppola was able to secure first choice Winona Ryder—though luckily the actor was in a rush to work with him, and soon signed on to star in his adaptation of Dracula, as the love interest of Jonathan Harker, played by… Uh oh.
