Sean Connery was the first actor to play James Bond on film, and in the eyes of many fans remains the best to ever don the tuxedo. However, he was actually none-too-fond of 007 himself.

In a famous interview, Connery said of the legendary super-spy, "I have always hated that damned James Bond. I'd like to kill him."

Connery reportedly became frustrated with playing the character in later movies, and resented being so pervasively associated with him beyond his larger body of work.

Connery's good friend Michael Caine said that "you didn’t the raise the subject of Bond" around the actor, such was the extent of his distaste for 007 and the franchise as a whole.

Given Daniel Craig's previous half-joking remarks about the Bond role driving him to thoughts of self-harm, it wouldn't be remotely surprising if Craig revealed a similar ire for the character once his tenure as Bond ends later this year.
