5. Billy Bob Thornton
Hes great in the small screen version of FXs Fargo, but hell-raiser Billy Bob Thornton hasnt been so on the big screen for a while. In fact, not since the much-loved Bad Santa (2003) has BBT produced anything close to one of his variations on Lifes Questionable Characters a role he frequently used to excel at. (He even manages to turn the President of the United States into that in the otherwise annoying save for Bill Nighy Love Actually ). Not that Thornton will care: hes an actor refreshingly distanced from most Hollywood BS, and you get the impression he wouldve been more at home in the 70s cinema, tearing it up with Jack Nicholson and co. Alas, thats not how it is, and, Fargo aside, BBT has been phoning in performances in the likes of The Astronaut Farmer (2006, and with a poser that shows Thornton riding a horse in full-on space gear), Eagle Eye (2008), The Bayton Outlaws (2012), and Entourage (2015) for over a decade now.
