10 Actors Who Lost Roles For Insane Reasons
4. Disney Didn't Want Brenda Song In It - Gran Torino
Brenda Song rose to prominence in Hollywood through her work with Disney, namely starring in 2006's action film Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior and playing London Tipton in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.
Song's transition into more mature, "serious" roles came with her role in David Fincher's The Social Network in 2010, where she played Eduardo Saverin's (Andrew Garfield) love interest Christy Lee.
However, Song recently revealed that her breakthrough was originally set to come a few years earlier, when she was in talks to play an unspecified role in Clint Eastwood's 2008 drama Gran Torino.
However, because the part involved a sexual assault scene, the ever image-averse Disney refused to let Song, who was still under contract and working on The Suite Life, accept the role.
And so, when Song was considered for The Social Network, she refused to let the same thing happen again, going directly to Disney president and COO Gary Marsh, to plead her case for what she called "the opportunity of a lifetime."
This time around, however, Disney let her take the part.
